'Star Wars VII': Harrison Ford and Matthew Vaughn fuel the rumor mill. Now that the surprise announcement of a new Star Wars trilogy has had time to sink in, the rumor mill is operating full throttle. Harrison Ford is reportedly ready to reprise his role as Han Solo in the upcoming movies, provided the script is good enough. And British filmmaker Matthew Vaughn is a candidate to direct them.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Harrison Ford wouldn't mind wearing Han Solo garb in the next Star Wars movie, Episode VII, which is expected to hit theaters in 2015. The weekly's website cites a "highly placed source."

"Harrison is open to the idea of doing the movie and he's upbeat about it, all three of them are," referring to the 70-year-old actor Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill, who played siblings Luke and Leïa Skywalker in Episodes IV to VI. Ford's requirements are a polished script and a talented director, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Matthew Vaughn ahead of the pack

Collider.com reports that Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class) is ahead of the pack to direct Episode VII and perhaps the two follow-ups. The British director has time on his hands since he pulled out of the X-Men: Days of Future Past project in the wake of Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm.

Other names have been floating round, with Neil Blomkamp (District 9) and Joss Whedon (Avengers) the most often cited, alongside Alfonso Cuarón, Darren Aronofsky and Steven Spielberg.
